Insider Threat Damage Balloons as Visibility Gaps Widen

Gurucul’s survey shows a significant rise in insider threats—reported incidents increased from 60% in 2023 to 83% in 2024, with many organizations facing six to ten incidents annually and remediation costs commonly ranging from $100K up to $2M; the report attributes this trend to growing IT complexity, increased access, lack of staff or training, weak enforcement policies, and adoption of new technologies, and recommends intuitive behavior-based detection, risk-based prioritization, ongoing training, and managed security services to reduce recovery time and cost.
