CISA Issues Guidance to Telecom Sector on Salt Typhoon Threat

U.S. agencies (CISA, NSA, FBI) warn of a large China-linked APT campaign dubbed "Salt Typhoon" that has infiltrated multiple major U.S. telecom providers (e.g., AT&T, Verizon, Lumen). The intrusions enabled theft of vast call detail records and, in some cases, interception of calls/messages for targeted individuals; agencies issued hardening guidance (including Cisco configuration advice) and consumer recommendations such as using end-to-end encrypted messaging and phishing-resistant MFA.
