Between December 2025 and January 2026, INTERPOL and law enforcement partners from 16 African countries executed Operation Red Card 2.0 to disrupt transnational fraud networks; investigators identified 1,247 victims and over $45M in losses, made 651 arrests, seized 2,341 devices, and took down 1,442 malicious IPs/domains/servers while recovering $4.3M. The operation targeted organized scams including phishing, identity theft, mobile-money and loan fraud, and credential-based telecom intrusions, and was enabled by real-time intelligence sharing and private-sector contributions (notably Fortinet and the Cybercrime Atlas) to coordinate takedowns and investigations.
