MITRE Impact Report 2024: Strengthening Threat-Informed Defenses

This article summarizes the MITRE Center for Threat-Informed Defense 2024 Impact Report and Fortinet’s contributions, spotlighting three initiatives: Sightings Ecosystem (a global, anonymized dataset of real-world ATT&CK technique sightings to prioritize defenses), Technique Inference Engine (an ML tool that predicts likely next adversary techniques using thousands of attack reports), and Summiting the Pyramid (a framework to score and harden detections against the Pyramid of Pain). It emphasizes how public–private collaboration and shared data improve visibility, anticipatory defense, and resilient analytics for enterprise security teams.
