Lessons Learned from WannaCry: Are We Ready for Another Global Attack?

Five years after the WannaCry outbreak, this report reviews the global ransomware cryptoworm that used the EternalBlue exploit (from an NSA tool leak) to impact over 200,000 systems, extracts lessons learned about the limits of prevention, the need for automated and scalable incident response, improved threat hunting and intelligence sharing, and the danger of nation-state cyberweapons leaking into criminal use.
