U.S. Soldier Charged in AT&T Hack Searched “Can Hacking Be Treason”

A U.S. Army communications specialist using the handle Kiberphant0m (Cameron Wagenius) pleaded guilty to unlawfully transferring confidential phone records as part of a broader criminal extortion campaign that exploited stolen Snowflake credentials; the campaign led to the exposure of data from AT&T (roughly 110 million customers) and over 160 other Snowflake customers, involved direct ransom demands, and included efforts by the accused to contact foreign intelligence and to flee prosecution.
