Man Who Mass-Extorted Psychotherapy Patients Gets Six Years

Finnish hacker Julius "Zeekill" Kivimäki was sentenced to six years and three months for hacking the Vastaamo Psychotherapy Center, stealing and leaking patient therapy records, and conducting a large-scale extortion campaign in 2020 as "ransom_man" that targeted the clinic and ~22,000 patients; investigators tied him to earlier activities with HTP and Lizard Squad, including mass server compromises via Adobe ColdFusion, DDoS-for-hire, and swatting, while Vastaamo’s former CEO received a suspended sentence for security failings such as weak credentials.
