Oops: DanaBot Malware Devs Infected Their Own PCs

The U.S. Department of Justice unsealed charges against 16 individuals tied to DanaBot, a prolific information-stealer sold as malware-as-a-service since 2018. Authorities say the platform infected over 300,000 systems, caused approximately $50M in losses, and that a 2021 espionage-oriented variant was used to target diplomatic, military, and NGO networks worldwide; law enforcement seized control servers with help from multiple security vendors.
