LA: St. George fire district sues IT company over cyberattack

St. George Fire Protection District No.2 filed suit against its former IT security vendor, General Informatics LLC, claiming the vendor’s inadequate cybersecurity between February 2021 and March 2024 led to a network-compromising cyberattack; the complaint cites unpatched servers, absence of backups despite paid services, plaintext administrative passwords, and reuse of compromised remote-access credentials across multiple clients.
