Notorious Hacker Kingpin ‘Tank’ Is Finally Going to Prison

WIRED reports that Ukrainian hacker Vyacheslav Igorevich Penchukov (“Tank”)—linked to past cybercriminal activity—was arrested in Switzerland in 2022, extradited to the United States, and has now been sentenced in a Nebraska federal court to two concurrent nine-year terms, over $73 million in restitution, and supervised release after pleading guilty to racketeering and wire-fraud conspiracies.
