KR: KT Fined 54 Billion Won Over Data Breach via Illegal Base Stations

KT was fined 53.979 billion won after attackers implanted certificates from a lost femtocell into a rogue femtocell to access KT’s mobile network, combine subscriber personal data, intercept ARS calls/SMS authentication codes, and execute unauthorized micropayments affecting 368 victims and leaking data of 16,647 users; an additional malware infection of 38 internal servers leaked employee and partner information and the company is accused of concealing the breach and deleting server logs.
