Russian Ransomware Administrator Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud Conspiracy

Evgenii Ptitsyn, identified as an administrator of the Phobos ransomware, pled guilty to a wire fraud conspiracy after operating a darknet-based affiliate ransomware service that victimized over 1,000 public and private entities and extorted more than $39 million; he was extradited from South Korea and faces sentencing in U.S. federal court.
