EU and United States enhance cooperation on cybersecurity

EU Commissioner Thierry Breton and U.S. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas issued a joint statement advancing the EU-US Joint Cyber Safe Products Action Plan—building on the EU Cyber Resilience Act and the US Cyber Trust Mark—to explore mutual recognition for consumer IoT cybersecurity; they also expanded cooperation on critical infrastructure protection, crisis management, software security, post-quantum cryptography, and AI security under the EU-US cyber dialogue, and announced the EU will join the US-led Counter Ransomware Initiative, committing EU institutions and Member States’ authorities not to pay ransoms.
