International Investigation Leads to Shutdown of RADAR-DISPOSSESSOR Ransomware Group (1)

FBI Cleveland, with U.K. and German partners, disrupted the Radar/Dispossessor ransomware group led by “Brain,” seizing infrastructure across the U.S., U.K., and Germany and filing a U.S. complaint to halt further attacks. Active since August 2023, the group targeted small to mid-sized organizations in multiple sectors across over a dozen countries, using weak-password and no-2FA exploitation to gain admin access, then employing dual-extortion (data theft plus encryption), direct victim pressure via email/phone, and leak-site countdowns. Authorities estimate multi-million-dollar losses and urge victims and those with information to report via ic3.gov or 1-800-CALL-FBI.
