Fake ID website busted; Dutch police deal a blow to criminal infrastructure

Dutch police and the FBI seized the VerifTools marketplace on August 27, taking it offline and securing two physical and over 21 virtual servers from an Amsterdam data center. VerifTools generated fake ID images from uploaded photos and false data, enabling users worldwide to bypass KYC checks; authorities estimate at least €1.3M in revenue. Investigators copied the site’s entire infrastructure for analysis to identify the administrator and users, and future arrests are not ruled out.
