UK: Council worker who snooped on records handed a suspended sentence

A Herefordshire Council employee unlawfully accessed approximately 490 personal records and downloaded 94 documents—many containing highly sensitive material such as medical records and child and family assessments—over a four-day period; he pleaded guilty under Section 1 of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and was given a two-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months, 120 hours unpaid work, £2,000 costs and a victim surcharge.
