Versus Project Marketplace Creator and Operator Extradited from Colombia to the United States

The DOJ announced the extradition of Patrick Schmitz, alleged cofounder and operator of the Versus dark web marketplace that operated from November 2019 to May 2022. Versus hosted over 380,000 registered users, ~32,000 product listings, and facilitated more than 300,000 orders for illegal goods including drugs, stolen IDs, counterfeit currency, malware, and hacking tools, generating millions in cryptocurrency transactions; Schmitz managed daily operations, recruited staff and vendors, and received portions of the profits.
