Cyberattack on NHS causes hospitals to miss cancer care targets

NHS executives say a cyberattack that began on 25 November 2024 against Wirral hospitals — via a breach of a shared “digital gateway service” — pulled the main clinical system offline, forced manual operations and cancelled appointments, and has significantly increased cancer treatment waiting times with effects expected to last months.
