Lithuania investigates theft of 600,000 state registry records

Lithuania's Centre of Registers suffered an unauthorized-access incident in which attackers, using compromised credentials assigned to authorized institutions (including Migration Department accounts), accessed over 600,000 records from the Real Estate and Legal Entities Registers. The breach, detected in April and reportedly originating from abroad, resulted in the resignation of the Centre's chief, public criticism of government notification delays, and an ongoing prosecutorial investigation with no publicly confirmed attribution.
