Initial Access Broker sentenced to 81 months in prison for enabling Yanluowang ransomware gang

The DOJ announced the sentencing of Aleksei Volkov, a Russian national who acted as an initial access broker for ransomware groups (including Yanluowang), facilitating dozens of ransomware attacks against U.S. organizations that caused over $9 million in actual losses and over $24 million in intended losses; Volkov pleaded guilty, was extradited from Italy, agreed to pay restitution and forfeit criminally used equipment.
