IE: HSE confirms second ransomware attack but ‘no evidence’ patient data was stolen

The Health Service Executive (HSE) confirmed a second ransomware attack earlier this year that targeted a third-party processor; while a data protection breach was reported by HSE primary care services in the midlands, there is no evidence that patients’ data was stolen. Separately, the HSE has begun offering compensation for the disruptive May 2021 cyberattack, which cost the agency an estimated €102 million.
