Data breach at collections vendor could affect some Bristol, Tennessee accounts

A third-party breach at Nationwide Recovery Services potentially exposed sensitive data tied to municipal collections for Bristol and Chattanooga, Tennessee; Bristol plans ~6,000 notifications while Chattanooga sent 836. The unauthorized network intrusion was dated to around July 11, 2024, disclosed to the cities in February 2025, reported to the FTC in September, and led Chattanooga to rescind its contract with the vendor and seek a replacement.
