City of Coweta hit with system-wide ransomware attack, has backup

The City of Coweta, Oklahoma reported a ransomware attack on August 5 that disrupted all city computers, files, and computer-based services except the city website and a third-party online billing portal. Officials have contacted their IT provider and cybersecurity professionals, emergency services (including 911) remain operational, and recovery will proceed using an offsite backup once systems are cleaned.
