Australia Set to Reform Cybersecurity Rules

Australia has published a discussion paper outlining its 2023–2030 Cybersecurity Strategy, driven by recent ransomware incidents and large data breaches (Optus, Medibank) and concerns about state-sponsored actors. The paper seeks expert input and emphasizes priorities including harmonizing regulations, improving international cooperation, securing government systems, enhancing threat-sharing, building workforce skills, formalizing major-incident response frameworks, and investing in the cyber ecosystem to strengthen national resilience.
