Hacking Electronic Safes

Researchers discovered two vulnerabilities in Securam Prologic electronic safe locks—one that abuses a legitimate locksmith unlock feature—that allow opening many affected safes without specialized hardware. The researchers responsibly notified the vendor but faced legal threats and limited public technical details; the vendor plans updated locks but does not intend to patch already sold devices.
