Hacking Digital License Plates

A researcher demonstrated a method to "jailbreak" Reviver digital license plates by removing a sticker, connecting to internal connectors, and rewriting firmware. The vulnerability is at the chip/hardware level so it cannot be fixed with a software update and would require replacing chips; once jailbroken the plates can be commanded over Bluetooth to display arbitrary characters or images, enabling potential misuse such as plate spoofing or evasion.
