Biden Signs New Cybersecurity Order

President Biden signed a new cybersecurity executive order that uses federal procurement to raise industry security standards: software vendors to the government must attest to secure development practices, CISA will validate and coordinate remediation with potential referrals to the Attorney General for false attestations, the Department of Commerce will define common practices that will become mandatory for government contractors, and NIST secure software development guidance will be updated.
