Researchers disclosed multiple vulnerabilities in the TETRA radio standard and in an end-to-end encryption implementation used in some vendor radios (including Sepura), where a 128-bit key is reduced to 56 bits before encryption, effectively weakening the encryption and enabling eavesdropping; the issues appear to be deliberately implemented backdoors affecting police and military radio communications.
