Security Challenges Rise as QR Code and AI-Generated Phishing Proliferate

Insikt Group reports a sharp rise in QR-code phishing (quishing) and AI-generated phishing targeting executives between Q4 2023 and Q1 2024, with threat actors also using AWS SNS for scaled smishing and VAST tags for malvertising to evade detection; the report notes large percentage increases in these tactics and recommends user training, secure QR scanning apps, endpoint security, ML detection, SMS filtering, and VAST validation.
