Colombian Mercenaries in Transit to Sudan via Libya – What do we Know? 

Bellingcat investigates the case of Colombian ex-soldier Christian Lombana Moncayo, allegedly recruited to fight with Sudan’s RSF, by geolocating his final TikTok video to a road north of Al-Jawf, Libya (approx. 25.099960, 22.955852), and correlating it with passport stamps, hotel footage in Abu Dhabi, and reported transit routes from the UAE to Libya and onward to Sudan. The timeline—from October travel through the UAE to a November 17 TikTok post—aligns with November 21 footage from Sudanese Armed Forces showing his documents after an alleged ambush near the Libya–Chad–Sudan border, supporting reports that Colombian recruits were routed via Libya into Sudan’s ongoing civil war.
