Kenyan Weapons Linked to Sudan’s Civil War

Bellingcat and Kenya’s Daily Nation analyzed videos and images from Salha, Omdurman (Khartoum area) showing Kenyan MOD‑labelled ammunition crates allegedly left by Sudan’s RSF, geolocating soldiers at the scene and correlating labels and batch data that suggest deliveries in or after 2024. Independent experts identified 14.5×114 mm API rounds and Chinese 82 mm HE Mortar Bomb Type PP87, with contract markings implying Kenyan procurement, while Kenya’s MoD denied recognizing the crates or inscriptions. Additional evidence connected similar materiel to Chinese intermediaries and possible transfer routes involving the UAE and Chad amid Sudan’s ongoing civil war. The report highlights unresolved questions about weapons sourcing and diversion fueling the conflict.
