Identifying the Mystery Vessel at the Site of Trinidad & Tobago’s National Emergency Oil Spill

This report investigates the February 2024 Tobago oil spill, using satellite imagery, ship-spotting photos, dive footage, AIS records, and ownership data to identify the leaking wreck as the unpowered barge Gulfstream, historically paired with the tug Marlin, and traces their movements and maintenance history; authorities later confirmed a tug and a barge were involved as the spill continued to impact beaches and waters over dozens of kilometers.
