Helping a banking fraud victim

This report details a social engineering bank fraud targeting an elderly victim who, after an initial small card fraud, was contacted by a caller spoofing the bank’s number, persuaded to hand her card to a courier, and instructed to install TeamViewer, enabling the theft of £10,000; the bank later accepted partial liability and refunded the funds. It highlights TTPs such as caller ID spoofing, courier card scams, remote access tool abuse, and timing-based pretexting, and advises independently calling the bank using official numbers, avoiding couriers, and never installing software at a caller’s request.
