The big play of autonomous vehicles

This article argues that the immediate benefits of vehicle autonomy are in private, controlled environments (ports, factories, logistics hubs), where autonomous movement can cut costs, speed loading, reduce damage, and increase density without public-road legal complexity. It notes cybersecurity risks are more likely to target supporting IT infrastructure that enables configuration and calibration rather than the vehicles themselves, and concludes these risks are manageable relative to the operational gains.
