Teams calls are about to get a lot harder to fake

Microsoft will roll out a new Teams Calling feature called Brand Impersonation Protection in mid-May 2026 (complete by late May 2026) that detects and warns users about suspicious inbound VoIP calls from first‑time external callers who may be impersonating trusted brands. Warnings will appear before and during calls for high‑risk connections, and users can accept, block, or end calls; the feature will be enabled by default and requires no administrative action, though Microsoft recommends preparing helpdesk support and updating internal awareness materials.
