Cybercriminals are registering thousands of lookalike (typosquatted) domains and building pixel-perfect clones of FIFA sites ahead of the 2026 World Cup to phish for personal and payment data, sell counterfeit tickets and hospitality packages, and enable further fraud. The FBI, Group-IB, and Netcraft report more than 4,300 fake domains, with a Chinese-speaking group called "GHOST STADIUM" operating ~300 phishing domains, and warn users to follow published safety tips as scammers promote fraudulent offers via social platforms.
