Apple is introducing end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging between iPhone and Android users in the iOS 26.5 beta. The feature will be enabled by default for new and existing RCS conversations, require supported carriers and the latest Google Messages on Android, and display a lock icon when a conversation is encrypted; Apple also reiterated that iMessage has always been end-to-end encrypted.
