French authorities are investigating a compromise of Tchap — the French government messaging platform — after a hijacked account accessed public (non–end-to-end-encrypted) chat rooms. DINUM and ANSSI detected the activity, blocked the account, and are investigating scope and data exposure; an alleged attacker claims tens of thousands of accounts, hundreds of thousands of messages, and 13.51 GB of media were obtained, but those claims remain unverified and CNIL has been notified.
