SIM-swapping gang busted in international police operation

Poland’s Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime (CBZC), with assistance from the FBI and HSI, arrested four suspects tied to an organized international SIM-swap campaign that used specialized software and social engineering to compromise telecom-related infrastructure and employee email accounts, enabling takeover of SMS/email, theft from cryptocurrency exchange accounts, and laundering of funds estimated at tens of millions of zlotys; suspects face charges including organized crime, computer intrusion and money laundering and remain in pretrial detention while the investigation continues.
