Google changes Play Store policies after settling Epic Games dispute

Google announced Play Store changes after its settlement with Epic Games: developers may use their own billing systems and direct users to external purchase pages; in-app purchase service fees for new installs will be 20% (15% for participants in certain programs) with a separate billing fee of 5% in the EEA/UK/US and subscription fees at 10%; and a Registered App Stores program will simplify installation of third-party Android stores. The rollout begins in the EEA, UK and US by June 30, 2026, with Australia, Japan, South Korea, and the rest of the world phased in through September 2027.
