Uncle Sam closes the door on all new foreign-made routers

The FCC has added foreign-made consumer routers to its Covered List, effectively banning new models manufactured overseas from being imported or sold in the U.S.; the move is justified by an interagency determination that such devices pose an “unacceptable risk” to national security and public safety, while critics warn the ban may disrupt supply chains and will not by itself resolve underlying router security problems like outdated firmware and update practices.
