Shadow AI risks deepen as 31% of users get no employer training

Lenovo’s Work Reborn Research Series 2026 reports that a substantial portion of enterprise employees use AI tools outside IT governance, driven by insufficient training and tooling; this unmanaged adoption raises risks around data leakage, compliance bypass, inconsistent workflows, and employee concerns about AI-driven cyberattacks and deepfakes. The report recommends building governance before scaling AI, improving continuous in-context security training, and standardizing AI interfaces and policies to reduce shadow AI risks.
