Signal responds to phishing attacks with new in-app security warnings

Signal has implemented new in-app protections after FBI, CISA and European authorities warned of phishing and social-engineering campaigns — attributed to Russian intelligence-linked actors — that trick users into linking attacker devices or sharing verification codes, allowing attackers to read messages; the app now shows additional warnings, educational prompts, and a “name not verified” indicator to help users detect impersonation and avoid sharing codes or PINs.
