Android's Phone by Google is introducing a fake call detection feature that uses an end-to-end encrypted RCS "handshake" between devices to verify caller legitimacy and flag spoofed or AI-voice-cloned calls. The feature is enabled by default on Android 12+ and will roll out globally starting with Pixel devices; users can disable it in settings and other apps/manufacturers may adopt the technology.
