Cyber threats push SMBs to spend more on security

This IDC survey of 2,200 SMBs finds that while 60% plan to increase cybersecurity spending, many organizations remain underprepared: security responsibilities are informal, practices are often reactive, and firms—particularly micro and small businesses—lack AI readiness and continuous vendor oversight. The report urges embedding cybersecurity into AI initiatives, strengthening governance, continuous third‑party monitoring, and formalizing accountability and processes to improve resilience.
