Researchers open-source a Wi-Fi cyber range for security training

Researchers from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and the University of the Aegean present an open-source, software-only Wi‑Fi cyber range that emulates 802.11 using mac80211_hwsim and Linux namespaces, integrates common wireless offensive and analysis tools, and includes a local Llama-driven scenario builder; the paper and prototype focus on education and training while noting limitations such as lack of radio-physical fidelity, untested scalability, and incomplete monitoring/administration features.
