GitHub announced that starting April 24, interaction data from Copilot Free, Pro, and Pro+ users may be used to train and improve its models unless users opt out; Copilot Business and Enterprise users are excluded. The update explains what interaction data may be collected (prompts, suggestions, edits, code context, file and repo metadata), notes exclusions (enterprise-owned repos, opted-out users, private repos at rest), and states some data may be shared with Microsoft affiliates but not independent third-party AI model providers.
