Cyberattack disrupts University of New Mexico hospitals, extortion group claims attack

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center suffered a cyberattack that temporarily disrupted hospital operations and forced appointment cancellations; an extortion group (BYOD) claims to have stolen extensive student/employee PII (including SSNs), research data, Oracle HR/payroll/student records and EHR data, while investigations and law enforcement response are ongoing and the full scope remains unconfirmed.
