Improved Cloudflare Workers testing via Vitest and workerd

Cloudflare announces a new Workers Vitest integration that lets developers run unit and integration tests directly in the workerd runtime, enabling higher fidelity testing with access to platform features like Cron Triggers, KV, R2, D1, Queues, and Service Bindings. The integration delivers hot-module reloading, watch mode, per-test isolated storage, and declarative outbound request mocking, while leveraging a custom Vitest pool, unsafe-eval bindings, module-fallback services, and a Durable Object–based runner to execute the Node-oriented test runner in Workers. It also supports direct testing of Durable Objects and provides guidance for installation, configuration, and migration from previous testing approaches.
