DDoS threat report for 2024 Q2

Cloudflare’s Q2 2024 DDoS Threat Report provides a global view of DDoS activity observed across its network, noting 4 million attacks in Q2 (8.5 million in H1) and a 20% year-over-year increase, with attacker sophistication surging as randomized HTTP attacks generated 10x more mitigation fingerprints; ransom DDoS threats peaked at 16% of surveyed customers in May, China was most attacked, IT & Services most targeted, and Argentina the largest source, while DNS floods remained the top network-layer vector, HTTP/2 dominated L7 attack traffic, and most attacks were short and small though the share of large volumetric events increased; overall, Cloudflare mitigated 10.2 trillion malicious HTTP requests and 57 PB of network-layer DDoS traffic in Q2.
